It was not so long ago, well at least it doesn't seem that long ago when poodles had short, "bobbed" tails. Now days. poodles tend to have a mid-length tail... not too long (or people will mistake a purebred poodle as a LabraDoodle, GoldenDoodle, or such) Some breeders call the mid-length tail as a "show tail" What length of tail is correct on a poodle? It's what ever you like :) We prefer the mid-length tail. Here are some photos:
Above, is a 'Long tail'. It is a natural length and is not docked. If you want your puppy to have a 'natural tail' that is not docked - you must pay for the puppy in full 'prior to the litter being born'. No refunds on this request.
Above is a "mid-length tail" / Show lenght. About 1/3 of the tail is docked at a very young age. (the puppy is usually about 2-3 days old)

Here is a short tail. It was more common to see a tail this short years ago. But you will find some breeders who still 'bob' the tail
